In a recent event, the 31st South East Asian Games started last month, May 12-23 of 2022. It was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, and features 40 sports from 11 different nations. Some of the most awaited sports for this event are basketball, volleyball, weightlifting, and gymnastics. As for these sports, we are represented by remarkable athletes namely, Alyssa Valdez, Hidilyn Diaz, and Carlos Yulo.

Aside from the known sports, the categories for SEA Games broaden. As they included e-sports in their respective competition, which leads to Blacklist International to represent our country in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. They entered the competition as Blacklist Sibol Team. Our national team for this category involves the dynamic duo of Wise and OhMyV33nus; with a mixture of the other iconic member, Hadji; and the promising rookies namely, Eyon, Owl, and Dominic. We should also commend the undying support and fruitful efforts of the coaches and analysts, MasterTheBasics, Dexstar, and other staff under the Blacklist International Team.

They were the first team to enter the qualifiers for the silver stage, and up until the gold stage. They dominated the pro scene resulting to sweep the enemies and claim the gold.

With this fresh win from the competition, is the future for e-sports brighter than the sun?

Each round was undeniably intense. There might be times wherein the opponent of the Sibol would claim the victory, but in the end, Blacklist Sibol still holds and manage to bring down the base of their opponents.

The team never failed to lose their objectives during the games, even though there were also minor technical difficulties during the game per se. Their win did not only make every one of us proud, but it also signifies that every complication, struggle, and effort of every professional player included in the Blacklist Sibol Team has finally paid off. The people, especially the fans of the whole team cheered. Even the professional players of the Philippines in other groups, like Allen Baloy of ONIC PH, shared his thoughts on social media that VeeWise is different. They are the goat. Words like this would not be expressed if the Blacklist Sibol Team is great, right? If we would go back to how it all started, these wins are a result of what? In an interview for a vlog, OhMyV33nus stated that the losses in every game are the ingredient why OhMyV33nus is OhMyV33nus now.

Johnmar “OhMyV33nus” Villaluna is currently achieving his dreams by building his dream house. This is through the continuous efforts of joining different tournaments and competitions for e-sports. In an interview, thank God, is the only word that left his mouth when he was asked about what can he say if he can look back to the past and compares it to what he is now. On the other hand, Danerie James “Wise” Del Rosario recently revealed something about Vee and him. On a video blog, he received a product from a known brand, and this is where he revealed that Vee once thought that a bowl of extra rice is expensive for a bowl of extra rice. Now, the two of them received a seventeen thousand worth of bags because they are now known, professional players.

People believe that this dynamic duo is unbreakable. For almost two years of being with Blacklist International, they proved that they are indeed unbreakable. We also cannot deny the chemistry of this dynamic duo with some of the members of Blacklist International. Hadji, Eyon, Owl, and Dominic showed exquisite moves when they did their play in the SEA Games competition. I hope just like the VeeWise tandem, these other members will pave the way to fulfill their dreams and be able to build their network. And I strongly believe that they are now doing that. Recently, some of the members of Blacklist International announced that they are building their dream house too. One of them was Edward Dapadap. A seventeen-year-old professional player who bought a house from his winnings from Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournaments.

Championships. Medals. Titles. These were the great things that come along with playing your favorite video and mobile games. Behind these, there were lose streaks, doubts, critique, and other negative ideas that could lead to failure and giving up. According to Hadji, if you want to be a professional player, you have to study first, or you can sacrifice something to fulfill it. Choosing this career is a risk. Behind the risk, the future for e-sports is absolutely bright. Wise said that the known brands right now are starting to sponsor e-sports. One of the examples of this is Smart. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang started an event, the MSC Southeast Asia Cup 2022, which started from June 11-19. Smart is the official telco partner of this event, which enables the gamers and fans to support our representative for this event. Smart also released GIGA Arena which is exclusive for Smart and TNT subscribers.

Every gameplay has an objective. Break the code, and get the gold, they said. But how do you really break the code, if you haven’t experienced what you need to experience? It is indeed sparkling to the eyes to see yourself win in a competition. Numerous heartaches, failures, or even lose streaks are what it takes to get what you want in the end. The medal, championship, and the title. You have to risk what you have to risk; you have to lose if you want to gain, and you have to doubt if you have to believe. This is the realistic behind-the-scenes of every athlete of e-sports.
